This is the first summer I’m letting both of my kids stay home alone all day while I’m at work and I’m pretty much terrified. I know they’re good kids but I’m just worried one of them will get mischievous or something will happen that they don’t know how to deal with. The boys are great one on one, but when they get together they’re a whole different animal! I had a securityCHOICE.comalarm installed to help keep them safe while they’re in the house and I’ve asked one of my stay at home mom neighbors to come over once a day and check on them, at least for the first couple of weeks. They know to call me if they have any issues at all and don’t tell them, but I had a Nanny Cam installed in the den so I know if they’re getting into something they shouldn’t be. I’m probably an overprotective mom but I think it’s my responsibility to make sure my boys are safe and if that means this, then so be it!

directTV programming packages. My family likes him a lot, too, and I find him more than fascinating to see in personal interviews. He's always been open to doing talk shows and I never fail to catch one of his many appearances. His frequent comments to the public are also fascinating and I've always made sure to tune into those and enjoy them for what they are.

Jim Carrey still has a long career ahead of him though it has slowed down in recent years. He seems to be more picky about his roles or else he has less time. He speaks frequently about his family life and I wish him the best.!

As an artisanal bread maker I have to keep my network large. I do a lot of schmoozing with different restaurateurs around town and even with some specialty food shop owners. These connections are what keeps my bread in stores and in turn in my customers’ mouths! I needed to get a reliable Internet connection out on the farm and I came across some Wireless internet providers offers that were hard to beat. I like being able to email my buyers whenever I have a new batch of bread and they like being able to give me input into what flavors and designs they need to sell. It’s a really great two-way street and I’ve found that keeping my customers happy is even more important than making great bread. I love what I do and take a lot of pride in my product, but it wall means nothing if I don’t have purchasers to buy it! I admit it. The term "viral marketing" is offensive. Call yourself a Viral Marketer and people will take two steps back. I would. "Do they have a vaccine for that yet?" you wonder. A sinister thing, the simple virus is fraught with doom, not quite dead yet not fully alive, it exists in that nether genre somewhere between disaster movies and horror flicks.

But you have to admire the virus. He has a way of living in secrecy until he is so numerous that he wins by sheer weight of numbers. He piggybacks on other hosts and uses their resources to increase his tribe. And in the right environment, he grows exponentially. A virus don't even have to mate -- he just replicates, again and again with geometrically increasing power, doubling with each iteration:

In a few short generations, a virus population can explode.

Viral Marketing Defined
What does a virus have to do with marketing? Viral marketing describes any strategy that encourages individuals to pass on a marketing message to others, creating the potential for exponential growth in the message's exposure and influence. Like viruses, such strategies take advantage of rapid multiplication to explode the message to thousands, to millions.

Off the Internet, viral marketing has been referred to as "word-of-mouth," "creating a buzz," "leveraging the media," "network marketing." But on the Internet, for better or worse, it's called "viral marketing." While others smarter than I have attempted to rename it, to somehow domesticate and tame it, I won't try. The term "viral marketing" has stuck.

The Classic Hotmail.com Example
The classic example of viral marketing is Hotmail.com, one of the first free Web-based e-mail services. The strategy is simple:

Give away free e-mail addresses and services,
Attach a simple tag at the bottom of every free message sent out: "Get your private, free email at http://www.hotmail.com" and,
Then stand back while people e-mail to their own network of friends and associates,
Who see the message,
Sign up for their own free e-mail service, and then
Propel the message still wider to their own ever-increasing circles of friends and associates.
Like tiny waves spreading ever farther from a single pebble dropped into a pond, a carefully designed viral marketing strategy ripples outward extremely rapidly.

Elements of a Viral Marketing Strategy
Accept this fact. Some viral marketing strategies work better than others, and few work as well as the simple Hotmail.com strategy. But below are the six basic elements you hope to include in your strategy. A viral marketing strategy need not contain ALL these elements, but the more elements it embraces, the more powerful the results are likely to be. An effective viral marketing strategy:

Gives away products or services
Provides for effortless transfer to others
Scales easily from small to very large
Exploits common motivations and behaviors
Utilizes existing communication networks
Takes advantage of others' resources
Let's examine at each of these elements briefly.

1. Gives away valuable products or services
"Free" is the most powerful word in a marketer's vocabulary. Most viral marketing programs give away valuable products or services to attract attention. Free e-mail services, free information, free "cool" buttons, free software programs that perform powerful functions but not as much as you get in the "pro" version. Wilson's Second Law of Web Marketing is "The Law of Giving and Selling" (http://www.wilsonweb.com/wmta/basic-principles.htm). "Cheap" or "inexpensive" may generate a wave of interest, but "free" will usually do it much faster. Viral marketers practice delayed gratification. They may not profit today, or tomorrow, but if they can generate a groundswell of interest from something free, they know they will profit "soon and for the rest of their lives" (with apologies to "Casablanca"). Patience, my friends. Free attracts eyeballs. Eyeballs then see other desirable things that you are selling, and, presto! you earn money. Eyeballs bring valuable e-mail addresses, advertising revenue, and e-commerce sales opportunities. Give away something, sell something.

2. Provides for effortless transfer to others
Public health nurses offer sage advice at flu season: stay away from people who cough, wash your hands often, and don't touch your eyes, nose, or mouth. Viruses only spread when they're easy to transmit. The medium that carries your marketing message must be easy to transfer and replicate: e-mail, website, graphic, software download. Viral marketing works famously on the Internet because instant communication has become so easy and inexpensive. Digital format make copying simple. From a marketing standpoint, you must simplify your marketing message so it can be transmitted easily and without degradation. Short is better. The classic is: "Get your private, free email at http://www.hotmail.com." The message is compelling, compressed, and copied at the bottom of every free e-mail message.

3. Scales easily from small to very large
To spread like wildfire the transmission method must be rapidly scalable from small to very large. The weakness of the Hotmail model is that a free e-mail service requires its own mailservers to transmit the message. If the strategy is wildly successful, mailservers must be added very quickly or the rapid growth will bog down and die. If the virus multiplies only to kill the host before spreading, nothing is accomplished. So long as you have planned ahead of time how you can add mailservers rapidly you're okay. You must build in scalability to your viral model.

4. Exploits common motivations and behaviors
Clever viral marketing plans take advantage of common human motivations. What proliferated "Netscape Now" buttons in the early days of the Web? The desire to be cool. Greed drives people. So does the hunger to be popular, loved, and understood. The resulting urge to communicate produces millions of websites and billions of e-mail messages. Design a marketing strategy that builds on common motivations and behaviors for its transmission, and you have a winner.

5. Utilizes existing communication networks
Most people are social. Nerdy, basement-dwelling computer science grad students are the exception. Social scientists tell us that each person has a network of 8 to 12 people in their close network of friends, family, and associates. A person's broader network may consist of scores, hundreds, or thousands of people, depending upon her position in society. A waitress, for example, may communicate regularly with hundreds of customers in a given week. Network marketers have long understood the power of these human networks, both the strong, close networks as well as the weaker networked relationships. People on the Internet develop networks of relationships, too. They collect e-mail addresses and favorite website URLs. Affiliate programs exploit such networks, as do permission e-mail lists. Learn to place your message into existing communications between people, and you rapidly multiply its dispersion.

6. Takes advantage of others' resources
The most creative viral marketing plans use others' resources to get the word out. Affiliate programs, for example, place text or graphic links on others' websites. Authors who give away free articles, seek to position their articles on others' webpages. A news release can be picked up by hundreds of periodicals and form the basis of articles seen by hundreds of thousands of readers. Now someone else's newsprint or webpage is relaying your marketing message. Someone else's resources are depleted rather than your own.

At this year's Oscars, Jennifer Hudson won the
supporting-actress Academy Award for her role on Dreamgirls.
Nobody could have ever projected this sort of success for last
year's American Idol finalist. But this story only adds to the
long and illustrious careers that have been created by American
Idol.

There is clearly no bigger example that America Idol can lead a
contestant to an entertainment career than Jennifer Hudson. The
Idol loser went from an unknown talent, to a household name in a
matter of a year. Much of her success can be attributed to her
appearance on American Idol. The show exposed her to millions,
and undoubtedly helped launch her into stardom.

Clearly, Hudson is destined to become a showbiz star, and it all
started when she was prematurely voted off American Idol while
less talented contestants remained. In a way, her being booted
off outraged the audience so much, that we all wanted to see her
succeed.

But up until her appearance on Idol, Jennifer Hudson, 24, didn't
have anyone who took notice of her amazing voice. It was not
until American Idol that America became aware of her immense
potential.

That same potential led to a starring role in DreamWorks' movie
version of the '80s Broadway musical Dreamgirls, in which she
can now add the title of Oscar winner.

In-fact, American Idol even had an influence in the auditions for
Dreamgirls. Among the hopefuls who tried out was Fantasia
Barrino, last year's Idol winner who too has become a bona fied
star in her own right. The list of American Idol contestants who
became instant stars goes on and on.

Prior to becoming the first American Idol winner, Kelly Clarkson
too was struggling to be heard, working as a cocktail waitress at
a comedy club in Arlington, Texas. But thanks to American Idol,
Her first single, "A Moment Like This", released October 2002
made history when it jumped straight from No. 52 to No. 1 on the
Billboard Charts. The jump surpassed the jump that the Beatles'
"Can't Buy Me Love" made when it jumped from No.27 to No.1.

On season two of American Idol, runner-up Clay Aiken had immense
success while season winner Ruben Studdard's career saw minimal
triumph. Ruben's debut album was released several weeks after
Clay's, both on the American Idol label, and despite hitting #1
sold about 200,000 less than the runner ups disk in its first
week.

On season three of American Idol even a non-contestant had a
career created thanks to an appearance on the audition rounds of
American Idol. Deemed the worst audition of the season, William
Hung's oddly convulsive dancing and atonal singing got a huge
buzz, helping Hung to enjoy a notable career parodying himself.

Season three winner Fantasia Barrino, also gained pop-star status
and is enjoying musical success. For Fantasia, The victory
brought Barrino ongoing fame. She went on a concert tour opening
for hip hop superstar Kanye West. She was even able to buy her
mother a $500,000 house. Fantasia is approaching the double
platinum mark with her debut album "Free Yourself" and American
Idol 2 runner-up Clay Aiken's Christmas album, "Merry Christmas
with Love" recently soared past the million-unit mark.

"Some Hearts," the debut album by American Idol 4 winner Carrie
Underwood, rose from Number 5 to Number 2 on the chart with more
than 271,000 units sold for the week. "Some Hearts" was certified
platinum, with over one million albums sold, within just five
weeks of its November 15, 2005 release.

American Idol 4 finalist Bo Bice's debut album, "The Real Thing"
entered the chart this week at Number 4, with more than 226,000
albums sold. In addition, Bice's hit single "Inside Your
Heaven/Vehicle" was number three on the Billboard Singles
Chart.

Even on a smaller scale, the American Idol influence continues.
Robyn Troup who was shown the door on season five of American
Idol, was selected by fans on an Internet-generated contest to
perform live with Justin Timberlake at the 49th annual Grammy's.
Troup clearly generated enough of a fan base from her American
Idol appearance that helped in getting plenty of votes.

Bucky Covington recently became the eighth contestant from the
fifth season of American Idol to ink a recording contract, as the
29-year-old recently signed a deal with Nashville's Lyric Street
Records.

American Idol truly takes aspiring talents and gives them a

Positive attitudes fuel the fire of achievement in people's
lives. Superstars, like boxer Sugar Ray Leonard and Carl Lewis
are the epitomies of positive thinking superstar sportsmen. A
positive attitude is the single most important factor for success
in life. Health-conscious, gym-going people epitomise* positive
thinking.

* Like that fancy word, "epitomise", which I'm using so
frequently.

Your attitude. Is it "the right attitude? It's something many of
us take for granted. "Why should I worry about my attitude?" -
you say. "If people can't get along with me, that's their
problem!"

If you carry a negative attitude around with you every day, you
are closing the doors of opportunities in your life. We are all
exposed to negative thinking, "poor-attitude" people - they're
everywhere. With all the negative input that we receive from our
friends, family, bosses, the news and co-workers, maintaining a
positive attitude can be difficult... but it's so important.

When most people hear the words "attitude adjustment", they think
about going to the bar for the "happy hour". Those who
continually immerse themselves in this nonsense, neglect the real

they try to escape by not facing reality. People who lead the
fitness life-style generally have positive attitudes. They feel
good, they look good and those feelings radiate to anyone whom

commitment to themselves to stay in shape. It takes the same type
of commitment to maintain a positive attitude, although be aware
that at times you may have "down days". Then it's up to you to

the internet. Now, instead of fancy templates and keywords,
webmasters need to write cutting-edge articles that will
generate hundreds of in-bound links.

The Social Network is a new type of search engine that is
managed through tag software directories like
http://Del.icio. us, Readit, Digg, Raw Sugar, and a host of
others. These directories have one purpose, to find the most up
to date content they can, and give it to the people who are
surfing the web.

The Social Network has become so popular that the major search
engines are catching on. These directories, also called
blogging search engines, attract Google and Yahoo by keeping
track of new content. This has made Social Networking vitally
important to all websites. However, the new Social Networking
has made web content more valuable than it was before. In-bound
links are now so important that many webmasters are including
tagging software on their webpages. This lets the visitor add a
Digg or other blog search engine tag without leaving the
webpage.

To make a strong impact and encourage visitors to tag the page,

reading the article and then tagging it can be almost

articles instead of just using them in templates.

There are several ways to add photographs to a website. The old
way of downloading a photograph and then linking to it slows
down webpages and uses bandwidth. Selecting photographs from
stock exchanges can be risky. Many webmasters have received
legal challenges for the use of a picture that they downloaded
with no restrictions, only to find the photographer changed the
restrictions at a later date. It is also very difficult to
